When you hear Botox® you might think Amanda Holden or Sharon Osborne or Simon Cowell or Cheryl Cole…. Actually pretty much any Britain’s Got Talent/ X factor but it’s not just for excessively smooth foreheads. Like most things it’s use originated in medicine, correcting muscular problems such as spasm and eventually they found some other great benefits from it such as easing teeth grinding, migraines and excessive sweating.
This last one has been a saving grace for some people who, in the summer months and even winter ones, suffer constant outfit changes and often the embarrassment of those unsightly sweat patches and for those that don’t know about this treatment, allow us to introduce you to the how, the how long, and the how much.
First of all, to be clear, Botox® will not cure sweating, we all sweat, we can’t stop it and we shouldn’t as it’s an important way of our body controlling its temperature and getting rid of toxins. But it does ease off the amount of sweat in concentrated areas. So for areas like the armpits we can really reduce the amount you sweat and avert those inconvenient and embarrassing moments.
To put it in the most simplest of terms Botox® blocks the messages sent to the nerves which switch the sweat glands on. These nerve endings are permanently blocked and over time we will grow new endings. For this reason the treatment will last between 3-6 months and we can repeat the process for as long as you require or just in those sticky summer months.
Hyperhidrosis treatments do require a little more time and injectable product then most cosmetic Botox® treatments and a good knowledge of injection site from a medical practitioner. At Manchester Cosmetics Clinic we generally charge £300 for a full treatment with a highly-qualified nurse or doctor. Consultations are always free and there’s no obligation to take a treatment after chatting with us. If you’d like to know more or come in for a consultation, don’t hesitate to contact us.
